Students are more than welcome to get involved in Toynbee Hall. Every wednesday afternoon during the academic year, students from Griffin are ably assisted by other students from Barts and The London medical and dental school in organising activities for the elderly participants in the Toynbee Hall day centre. The centre is located very near Aldgate East tube station.

Typical events include bingo, arts and crafts, planting bulbs, reminiscing, and quizzes. There is no commitment to come every week, you can attend as often or as little as you like. If you're thinking of applying to live in Griffin house then an active interest in Toynbee Hall is always looked on favourably.

Getting involved in Toynbee Hall requires minimal effort but can be an immensely rewarding experience. You can get to know the elderly local residents that attend the day centre, there are usually ten to fifteen of them for you to chat to. If you'd like to get involved or would just like some more information about what we do at Toynbee hall then drop a line to the Griffin chair.
