Radio Times Show
Relive Radio's Heyday with a Melodious and Hilarious Trip down Memory Lane.
This
year saw us take a visit to Mickie Driver's Palace of Varieties to see
a variety show based on the comedy and musical radio shows of
yesteryear.
The show
was requested as an event by the Shaftesbury residents, and while some
of the references went over the heads of the Griffin students, a good
time was had by all.
A slap up roast beef dinner was enjoyed in the packed hall before the
entertainment began. The compere and performer Mickie Driver and his
cast reminisced on past catch phrases and songs used on the radio shows
that some of the Shaftesbury residents listened to in their youth.
Everyone
was singing along to the songs that they knew in a knees-up that Mother
Brown would have been proud of. At the end we were able to chat to the
performers before waving us off in our coaches.
The successful event may see it remain a regular Griffin feature on the event calendar.
